Lima Information
Lima is the capital city of the Republic of Peru. It is located on the central coast of the country, on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, forming a large and populous urban area known as Metropolitan Lima, flanked by the coastal desert and extended over the valleys of the rivers Chillon, Rimac and Lurin. According to the 2007 Peruvian census, Lima had more than 7.6 million inhabitants, while its urban agglomeration had more than 8.5 million inhabitants, 30 percent of the Peruvian population, making it the most populous city in the country.
Cusco tourist information – Facts you need to know
Sacred imperial city and mystical navel of the world for being the political and territorial center of the Inca Empire, considered the capital of the Empire of the Incas with a great historical and architectural legacy.
Cusco is surrounded by beautiful green valleys with geographical variety from natural mountain ranges and reliefs with impressive tourist attractions, culture, tradition and faith still latent.
The city of Cusco, located in the Andes at 3,399 meters above sea level, was declared the Historical Capital of Peru, being an impressive sample of high Inca engineering that had as its main tool the stone.
Facts about sacred Valley
Located in the heart of the Sacred Valley, Urubamba (2,871 meters above sea level), it is 78 km northwest of Cusco on the road to Pisac (1 hour and 25 minutes by car) or 57 km (45 minutes by car) from Cusco on the road to Chinchero.
Its altitude is 2,800 meters above sea level, which gives it a more benign climate. As it happens in the lands located at this altitude, its climate is marked by two seasons: rain and drought. The wet season occurs between the months of November and April. Then a downpour can occur in seconds and, unfortunately, you do not always enjoy a blue sky. But the rainy season also has its advantages, as the hills are covered with an intense green and temperatures are usually mild. During the dry period the colors of the sky are bright, but the air is usually so dry that the skin seems to break. The night is usually very cold and can freeze in the early morning.
The starry sky is a real spectacle during this season. The Sacred Valley is, climatically speaking, an ideal place. This was recognized by the ancient Peruvians who used to come here to get cured. In spite of reaching high temperatures and being an area full of vegetation, the valley is free of mosquitoes due to the altitude at which it is located. In addition, it is difficult to suffocate, as a fresh breeze always blows.
Lake Titicaca facts about this Lake
This turquoise blue lake was the most sacred body of water in the Empire and is now the natural separation between Peru and Bolivia. It has an area that exceeds 8000 km2, not counting its more than 30 islands. At 3800 meters above sea level, it is the largest lake in South America.
For travelers, Titicaca is fascinating not only for its exceptional geography, but also for its unique island communities. Its human history is equally impressive: Andean ruins of thousands of years dot the landscape. They are reminders of the great dynasties that flourished there despite the high altitude, cold temperatures and strong winds. On a trip to Lake Titicaca, you can meet and interact with the Andean inhabitants and learn more about how the lake environment shapes their unique traditions and lifestyles.
