What should I bring for the Inca Trail?
A trip without worries is one that is planned in advance so having a prepared and complete equipment is important from clothing such as hiking shoes that you have used previously so as not to have pains of recent use for being new, light pants, long sleeve polo (preferably) and a backpack of 30 liters. Inside it is important to take clothes for the cold and for the heat due to temperature changes, personal hygiene equipment, small towel and other personal items. You will also need a sleeping bag, waterproof poncho, towel, flashlight, hat, mosquito repellent, sunscreen, toothbrush, toothpaste, rain cover for your backpack, and toilet paper. The backpack should not be too heavy and it is good that the back is padded to be more comfortable.
Where do you sleep on the Inca Trail?
During the hike we will be able to find spaces that are assigned for our nights of camping, we already have designated these spaces for you and as the support team is the one who takes everything necessary when we arrive at this point everything will be ready for us to just rest, all the places are unique and have a fantastic mix with nature, you only have to worry about your personal luggage, the sleeping bag and the matra or inflatable mattress.
How are the toilets on the Inca Trail?
During the last years this service is one of the most worked by the pertinent entities, however they are still basic, we will be able to find them and make use of them if it is necessary, these have water current in each one of the camps along the Inca Trail.
9.- How is the food, should I bring food?
Food is an important point in this experience so you should not worry about it at all, since we take care of the details for you, we have specialized cooks with many years of experience who prepare food based on typical dishes of local cuisine and Peru, taking care that it is not too heavy and that it contains the necessary proteins and vitamins to recover our energy. Usually there is a variety of pasta, rice, chicken, fresh vegetables, oats, eggs, creams, salads, tuna, vegetables and a variety of fruits such as apple, orange, peach, tangerine, avocado, banana, etc. In total we offer you 3 breakfasts, 3 lunches and 3 dinners, only the breakfast of the first day and the dinner of the last day are not included in this. Additionally we offer vegetarian food for you, just ask in advance or at the time of booking.
Will I find purified water to drink on the Camino?
There are some parts or sectors near the camps where it will be possible to find bottled water. However, as a formal company that cares about the environment, the archaeological sites and in order to avoid the amount of garbage in this destination as well as to avoid the use of plastic, we recommend that you take a rechargeable water bottle or canteen; the staff will provide you with boiled water part of the second day, as well as the third day at breakfast, lunch and in the evening after dinner.
Can I do the Inca Trail alone or on my own?
Surely you have heard people say that they did it on their own and did not need any help, in fact before this was possible but today the rules have changed drastically so it is NOT possible for individual travelers to plan their trip because one of the new rules dictates that it is necessary to consult a formal company as the guide in charge must have a special permit. The purpose of this is to order and control the number of people who enter this road network daily. We are an agency that has the proper authorizations and we can make the tours of the Inca Trail without any inconvenience as our guides have this special permission issued by the Regional Direction of Culture of Cusco.
The groups are formed by more people, ours as they are reduced are in groups of 8 participants at the most, additional they accompany us the porters or team of support who take the equipment of camp and feeding and finally our leader who will be the professional guide.
