The billions of colors of Ausangate is in this magnificent Ausangate Lagunas hike, is a beautiful one day tour, where you can see several turquoise green lagoons, belonging to the Cordillera Vilcanota and also be close to the mountains of Ausangate and Qayangates. To reward the tour, you have the opportunity to enjoy the wonder of the Andes, the relaxing hot springs with a beautiful view of the mountains and the daily life of the Pacchanta community.
If you are more than tired of seeing the same thing in Cusco, then take with us the tour to the 7 lagoons of Ausangate, a full day excursion super promising, full of adventure, scenery, mountains, turquoise, blue, green and even reddish lagoons; you can also see some of the Andean flora and fauna (Alpacas, Vizcachas and Condors).
But the most outstanding places of this tour are the 7 lagoons located in the foothills of the Vilcanota mountain range, which receive the following names: Otorongo Macho, Otorongo hembra, Puca cocha, Alqa cocha, Ccomer cocha, Azul cocha and Pata cocha.
As additional information, in the community of Pacchanta there are hot springs that have medicinal properties, if you wish you can also enjoy these waters.
To participate in this tour to the 7 lagoons of Ausangate requires a good physical condition and be acclimatized to the altitude.
Day 1: Cusco – Tinke (3950 m.) – Pacchanta (4200 m.) – Lagunas (4850 m.) – Cusco
At 4:00 a.m. we pick you up from the hotel and leave towards the village of Pacchanta. We will arrive at Tinke and take a rest. The journey from Tinke lasts approximately 45 minutes until we arrive to Pacchanta where a delicious breakfast will be waiting for us. From this place we will start walking on horseback to the beautiful lagoons of Ausangate.
We will have a five hour hike visiting the lagoons of Azulcocha, Otorongo, Pucacocha, Alqacocha and Q’omercocha, also we can appreciate the Ausangate mountains (6834 m.), Mariposa (5842 m.), Jampa (5500 m.), Mariposa (5842 m.), and the Pucacocha (5500 m.). ), Jampa (5500 m.), Pucapunta (5740 m.), Caracol (5625 m.), Tinke (5300 m.) and all the Cordillera de Qayangate, we will also see birds, alpacas, llamas, many vizcachas and hopefully even the Andean Condor. After making a circuit we will return to Pacchanta to enjoy the hot springs. We will finish the day in the relaxing hot springs of Ausangate. Ideal to relax the muscles of the body. After a buffet lunch. We will board to Cusco. Arrival to Cusco city at seven in the evening. End of our services.

Information about 4 lagoons:
Pampamarca or Tungasuca Lagoon.
The fourth lagoon is the highest of the circuit (3 750 masl.), called Tungasuca or Pampamarca and is home to a great variety of wildlife such as parihuanas and ducks, due to the abundance of cattails that surround it. Sport fishing is especially popular in Pampamarca. This is a freshwater lagoon.
Asnaqocha Lagoon
The third is the Asnaqocha Lagoon (meaning smelly lagoon) which concentrates abundant algae that, when exposed to the sun’s rays, produce a strong odor.
The Acopia Lagoon
The second is a small lagoon called Acopia, located in the town of the same name, Acopia lagoon is very populated with birds, here you will see pelicans and wild ducks. In Acopia you can meet the woman who inspired the most famous huayno of Cusco Valicha, Valeriana Huillca Condori (85 years old) inspired the composer Miguel Angel Hurtado to write this beautiful melody.
The Pomacanchi Lagoon
The first lagoon called Pomacanchi, is located in the upper part of the Vilcanota River. The Pomacanchi lagoon has a maximum depth of 140 meters; around it there are abundant natural grasses: medicinal species, totora, mirmi, etc. and fish: trout, silversides, huitas, ccarachis, ch’iñis and carps. In the Pomacanchi lagoon, the municipality has built a tourist camp of totora reed huts, a shed to eat and a grill to prepare trout, which in this area there are up to 300 fishermen associated, here you can ride in pedal boats accompanied by a guide.
